This 1984 adaptation of Michael Ende’s novel is a fantasy cult-classic that definitely retains its appeal after 30-plus years! Bastian Balthazar Bux escapes a pummeling from school bullies by ducking into a dusty bookstore where he is encountered by The Neverending Story. Once he starts reading the book, it becomes clear that the adventures described are too large for the book to contain, and Bastians’s initial role as observer dramatically shifts to the role of heroic participant.Check out the furry dragon!
