PSYCHO – the original Hitchcock classic at 6:00 pm…
as part of our Halloween Horror Hotel double feature with Kubrick’s THE SHINING!

Directed by Alfred Hitchcock – 1960 – 108m

One of the most shocking films of all time, Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho changed the thriller genre forever.  Join the Master of Suspense on a chilling journey as an unsuspecting victim (Janet Leigh) visits the Bates Motel and falls prey to one of cinema’s most notorious psychopaths – Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins).  Named #1 on the AFI’s 100 Years…100 Thrills list, this notorious film has become a cultural phenomenon.  Featuring one of the most iconic scenes in film history – the famous “shower scene”, Psycho is “still terrifying after all these years” (Leonard Maltin’s Classic Movie Guide).

“Continues to be thrilling to this day.” –  Chris Stuckmann, ChrisStuckmann.com

“What else can be said about Hitch’s masterpiece? It’s a masterpiece!” – Trace Thurman, Horror Queers Podcast

THE SHINING – Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 frightful classic at 8:15 pm…
as part of our Halloween Horror Hotel double feature with Alfred Hitchcock’s immortal terrorizer PSYCHO!

Directed by Stanley Kubrick – 1980 – 144m

Stanley Kubrick directs this utterly chilling adaptation of Stephen King’s shocker, The Shining.  Seeking solitude in order to write a novel, Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) takes a job as an off-season caretaker at the remote Overlook Hotel in Colorado.  Eager to get started, Jack disregards warnings that the isolation drove a former caretaker mad, and moves into the massive resort with his wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and son Danny (Danny Lloyd).  But Danny has a supernatural gift which makes him aware of an evil lurking in the hotel, and sure enough, as winter storms cut the hotel off from civilization, Jack gradually becomes murderously insane.

“An unending roller coaster of terror that knows exactly how to get under the skin of anyone who watches it.” – Cody Dericks, Next Best Picture

“The terrifying aspect of The Shining, and its most enduring quality, is  how Kubrick has trapped us in his cinematic maze to search without hope  of ever discovering an adequate answer outside of our own making.” –  Brian Eggert, Deep Focus Review
