CEMETERY MAN – 30th Anniversary screening of the newly restored 1994 Rupert Everett Cult Classic!

Directed by Dario Argento protégé Michele Soavi (The Church) and starring Rupert Everett, this is an unmissable chapter in 1990s Italian horror: unpredictable, gory, romantic, and unlike anything else.  The movie returns to the big screen for the first time in decades as a new 4K restoration from Severin Films.

Francesco Dellamorte (Rupert Everett) is the groundskeeper at a cemetery where the dead just won’t stay dead—and it’s up to him to deal with those who come back to life with a hunger for human flesh.  But Dellamorte’s job soon becomes much more complicated when he falls for an enigmatic young woman (Anna Falchi) whose husband has recently died.  Based on the novel by Tiziano Sclavi (Dylan Dog) and directed by Michele Soavi, Cemetery Man is a late masterpiece of Italian horror: quirky, gory, romantic, and unlike anything else.

“Far closer to the hermetic enigmas of Last Year in Marienbad and the  snowglobe microcosms of Citizen Kane than to more generic fare, and the  result is an elegantly eccentric folly – playful, perplexing and  paradoxical in equal measure.” – Anton Bitel, Projected Figures

“A quirky blend of romance, lust, surrealism, horror, and black comedy  which transcends the work of better-known Italian horror maestros like  Dario Argento thanks to its grotesquely humorous bent.” – Cole Smithey, ColeSmithey.com

The Guild Cinema is located at 3405 Central Ave NE in the Nob Hill area.
