THIS PHYSICAL MEETING IS CANCELED DUE TO CURRENT COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS ON GATHERING SIZES & CAPACITY IN HOUSES OF WORSHIP… We are trying a Virtual Alternative via Zoom and Facebook. We’ll have an opportunity for club members to chat, and will be presenting some online non-fiction videos about Michael McCormick, the ABQ Museum, and Muppets in general!
Programming – Local puppeteer Michael McCormick, and his son Sean, WILL NOT BE VISITING to talk about Michael’s Muppet & Puppet Experiences (attempted rescheduling from March)
Albuquerque’s McCormick was a designer and puppeteer hired by artist Brian Froud & Muppet creator Jim Henson to work on Henson’s 1982 fantasy film, The Dark Crystal. From there, he also was involved in The Return of the Jedi, the 3rd Star Wars film, released in 1983; and in Henson’s 1986 musical fantasy, Labyrinth, with David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. McCormick also has made and performed with his own puppets.
This talk for ASFS was originally in association with the Jim Henson Exhibition, which might be running at the ABQ Museum through the Summer. Check out their website for official word — ABQ Museum/Henson
