Rio Rancho engineer Christopher Marsh gives a talk on “The history of the original NASA Mission Control Center in Houston. that was used for 30 years for around 100 missions. Starting in 1965 with Gemini, the Mission Control Center was used through Apollo, and ended in 1995 after being used for over half of the Space Shuttle missions. The original Mission Control Center was run by a team of around a dozen front room experts (the people seen on TV sitting at the consoles) supported by many more back room experts that would analyze the spacecraft telemetry fed through a massive computer complex. It was replaced by a modern Mission Control Center in 1995 for the remainder of the Shuttle missions and the Space Station.”
