Programming – 2 for 1 Night – and ASFacts:
♣ New Mexico author & Bubonicon friend Benjamin Radford returns for his annual visit! Radford will be talking on Crystal Skulls, a repeat of his Bubonicon 51 presentation.
♥ Plus we’ll have our club officer elections for moderator, alternator and executive secretary. Not to mention choosing a “challenge” ingredient or theme for our December Dessert Cook-Off…
First up, Benjamin Radford talks on Crystal Skulls: “Crystal skulls are among the strangest and most mysterious artifacts in the world. They have been seen in the world’s finest museums, inspired Indiana Jones—and according to legend have even been used to see the future or even kill with terrible supernatural power. Skulls are at once both mundane and macabre, symbolic reminders of both medicine and death. What do we make of these objects, whose origins are shrouded in the mists of mystery? Join investigator and folklorist Benjamin Radford as he reveals the research and riddles behind these intriguing artifacts — including one with a New Mexico connection — based on research in his UNM Press book Mysterious New Mexico: Miracles, Magic, and Monsters in the Land of Enchantment.”
Radford is author or contributor to over 25 books and has appeared on Good Morning America, MysteryQuest, MonsterQuest, Is It Real? and many other shows.
After Radford is done, we’ll have our annual Club Officer Elections! And choose an ingredient or theme for the December cook-off/party.
Finally, the Halloween issue of ASFacts will be on hand. Deadline for submissions is 7:00 pm Monday, October 7.
Newcomers are welcome with a $1.00 contribution to help pay our rent…
