♥ Plus we’ll have our club officer elections for moderator, alternator and executive secretary.  Not to mention choosing a “challenge” ingredient or theme for our December Dessert Cook-Off…

First up, Bubonicon 47 science speaker Benjamin Radford returns to ASFS to give a talk on his experiences behind-the-scenes of a TV ghost hunting show, and discusses his latest book, Investigating Ghosts: The Scientific Search for Spirits.  From an online description of the book, “Ghosts have fascinated and haunted us for millennia. They appear in our campfire tales, films, books, and television shows as well as in our dreams and nightmares. Despite widespread belief in spirits and the popularity of television ghost hunting shows, scientific evidence for them remains elusive. Investigating Ghosts is the first book to examine the history and techniques of ghost hunting from folkloric, scientific, and socio-cultural perspectives. No mere armchair scholar, author Benjamin Radford’s book is based on nearly twenty years of first-hand, science-based investigations and research. Investigating Ghosts will entertain and educate skeptics and true believers alike, separating fact from fiction about this timeless mystery.”
Plus, Radford should be bringing copies of his books, including Mysterious New Mexico, for sale to anyone who is interested.

After Ben is done, we’ll have our annual Club Officer Elections!  And choose an ingredient or theme for the December cook-off/party.

Finally, the Halloween issue of ASFacts will be on hand.  Deadline for submissions is 7:00 pm Monday, October 8.
