Jean Cocteau Cinema Presents John Scalzi and Mary Robinette Kowal on August 22!

SANTA FE, N.M. — Authors and friends John Scalzi and Mary Robinette Kowal join us for a discussion on the writing process followed by a Q & A and book signing! Scalzi, known for his science fiction writing and the bestselling Old Man’s War series, and Kowal, a puppeteer and Hugo award-winning novelist, both create fictional classics that incorporate fantasy.

Both currently based in the Midwest, the two imaginative authors will discuss how they work, as well as what inspired their newest masterpiece novels: Scalzi’s Head On, and Kowal’s The Fated Sky: A Lady Astronaut novel. While Head On explores a mystery surrounding Hilketa, a violent game, played between durable robots, Kowal’s latest is an alternate history that addresses the gender inequalities faced by female astronauts seeking to explore their opportunities.

Following the discussion and Q&A session, Scalzi and Kowal will be signing copies of their new books in the Jean Cocteau Cinema lounge.
