Programming – 2 for 1 Night – and ASFacts:
♣ New Mexico author & Bubonicon friend Benjamin Radford returns for his semi-annual visit! Radford will be talking on Friday the 13th: Curses, Luck, and Superstitions.
♥ Plus we’ll have our club officer elections for moderator, alternator and executive secretary for 2024. Not to mention choosing a “challenge” ingredient or theme for our December 2023 Dessert Cook-Off…
First up, Benjamin Radford talks on Friday the 13th: Curses, Luck, and Superstitions: “Friday the 13th is said to be an especially unlucky day, combining fears about Fridays and concerns over the number 13. Obviously it’s been a boon to horror film franchises, but for many who believe in curses and superstitions it’s serious business. Many people around the world believe in some form of luck, whether cursings or blessings. Join Benjamin Radford as he discusses some of the cultural and psychological origins of superstitions, from four-leaf clovers to the evil eye. ”
Radford is author or contributor to over 25 books (such as Mysterious New Mexico and Big-If True: Adventures in Oddity), and has appeared on Good Morning America, MysteryQuest, MonsterQuest, Is It Real? and many other shows.
After Radford is done, we’ll have our annual Club Officer Elections! And choose an ingredient or theme for the December cook-off/party.
Finally, the Halloween issue of ASFacts will be on hand. Deadline for submissions is 7:00 pm Monday, October 9.
Newcomers are welcome with a $1.00 contribution to help pay our rent…
