CANCELED — New Mexico authors (and Bubonicon friend) Jeffe Kennedy and S.M. Stirling (both of Santa Fe) will be celebrating the release of The Fiery Crown: Forgotten Empires Book 2 and Shadows of Annihilation: Black Chamber Book 3, respectively, on Saturday, June 13.

Kennedy’s second Forgotten Empires novel is described as such: “A desperate alliance. A struggle for survival. And a marriage of convenience with an epic twist of fate come together in Jeffe Kennedy’s The Fiery Crown. Will their Love stand the test of time? Queen Euthalia has reigned over her island kingdom of Calanthe with determination, grace, and her magical, undying orchid ring. After she defied an empire to wed Conrí, the former Crown Prince of Oriel—a man of disgraced origins with vengeance in his heart—Lia expected the wizard’s prophecy to come true: Claim the hand that wears the ring and the empire falls. But Lia’s dangerous bid to save her realm doesn’t lead to immediate victory. Instead, destiny hurls her and Conrí towards a future neither could predict…”

In Stirling’s new book, “The third novel in a World War I alternate history series where America’s greatest weapon against Germany is Black Chamber secret agent Luz O’Malley and technical genius Ciara Whelan. Only they can protect America’s best hope of winning the war. The Great War is at a stalemate, and the only thing stopping Germany from striking America is the threat of the United States using their own Annihilation Gas against them. But America’s supply is quickly decaying and the Central Powers know it. A plant is under construction in the remote highlands of Mexico so that America can make their own supply. President Teddy Roosevelt assigns crack agent O’Malley and her technical genius Whelan to watch over the plant operating under cover identities.”

Kennedy lives in Santa Fe, is an award-winning author, has been a Ucross Foundation Fellow, received the Wyoming Arts Council Fellowship for Poetry, and was awarded a Frank Nelson Doubleday Memorial Award.  Stirling also lives in Santa Fe, and is well known for his Draka and Emberverse (Change) novels.  Black Chamber, the first book in a the alternate history series, was released July 2018.
