NM Biographer Brian Jay Jones talks about Jim Henson February 23 as part of the Henson Exhibition at the ABQ Museum!
ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Acclaimed biographer Brian Jay Jones showcases the life and work of Jim Henson, from his early television and commercial work, through his work as an avant-garde filmmaker and documentarian, and into Sesame Street, Saturday Night Live, and The Muppet Show. Using a multi-media presentation, including rare video footage, Jones will explore films like The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, as well as TV fare like The Storyteller and Fraggle Rock.
Jones — who grew up in New Mexico and is a graduate of UNM — will provide some insight into Henson’s little-known New Mexico connections. Jones is the author of Becoming Dr. Seuss, George Lucas: A Life, Washington Irving: The Definitive Biography, and Jim Henson: The Biography.
The Jim Henson exhibition features a broad range of artifacts related to Henson’s unparalleled career, including more than 20 puppets, character sketches, storyboards, scripts, photographs, film and television clips, behind-the-scenes footage, iconic costumes, and interactive experiences that allow visitors to try their hand at puppeteering on camera and designing a puppet character.
