The Albuquerque Science Fiction Society (ASFS) provides fun and engaging programs and presentations in the realms of science fiction, fantasy, horror, and speculative fiction, as well as science and the arts.
ASFS holds meetings (times & map below) for panel discussions, guest speakers (including New Mexico authors and scientists), films, an annual auction, a great variety of other programming, as well as socializing. Guests and new members are always welcome!
ASFS is a literary-oriented club, begun way back in 1966. In 1969, the club sponsored the first Bubonicon, then known as “New MexiCon.” While the club and Bubonicon operate separately these days, ASFS still gets a preview of each year’s convention schedule and a report on how that year’s Bubonicon did financially. ASFS also holds the Con Chair election (meeting after Bubonicon) when there is more than one candidate for the con position.
Newsletter Info
The Albuquerque Science Fiction Society (ASFS) also produces a Sci-Fi & Fantasy Newsletter five times each year in February, April, July, October, and December.
These newsletters (ASFacts & SithFacts) cover topics related to Bubonicon, as well as Sci-Fi & Fantasy news and events of interest from Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and New Mexico, as well as neighboring states.
The ASFS Newsletters are available, below, in PDF format to read online.
