This 1990s DeVito special film is now a Broadway play! Matilda is a girl of wondrous intelligence but her parents, Harry and Zinnia Wormwood treat her as nothing more than an annoying brat. However, after many long years, she finally convinces them to let her attend school; they enlist her in Crunchem Hall, a bleak prison. In charge is the wicked and evil principal Agatha Trunchbull (she once spun a girl around by her ponytails and threw her over the fence). Despite the horrid woman, Matilda finds her place with the sweet and beautiful 1st grade teacher, Ms. Honey, who sees the remarkable skills the little girl has. She also realizes something else about Matilda: Her ability of telekinesis.

“DeVito gleefully preserves Dahl’s dark comic tone, which should delight both kids and parents.” – Rob Thomas, Capital Times
