BUBONICON 46 – 2014

BUBONICON 46 WAS THIS PAST AUGUST! Thank you all for your assistance, support and presence in early August 2014! We had approximately 660 members in all – a little down, but not surprising since we were three weeks early. It still was successful, with good business in auctions and the art show for our 3rd time at the Albuq Marriott Uptown. People seemed to bring their “Sidekicks and Minions” to celebrate the theme and welcome Jack Campbell and Cherie Priest. We were also excited by special appearances by Stephen R. Donaldson and Ernest Cline!
ART SHOW had more than $9,000 total sales from 45 artists, and 40% of all artwork was sold!
GREEN SLIME AWARDS: Wretched winners included I, Frankenstein for film, Bermuda Tentacles for the SyFy Channel, Star-Crossed for broadcast TV, and Rebels: City of Indra: The Story of Lex & Livia by Kendall & Kylie Jenner for novel.
COSTUME CONTEST: Best in Show went to “Steampunk Elepheba & Her Minion, the Clockwork Monkey” by Geneva Schult & Leah Ransom; Best Use of the Sidekick & Minion Theme went to “Spielberg and the Redshirts” by Brian Grossman, Stina Branson, Caitlin Grabarek & Tony Cramer; and Best Judges’ Bribe went to “Wicked LuLu and Pix” by Anna & Arya McKibben.
BUBONICON 46 gave a total of $5,000 to charities and non-profit groups, partly raised at Friday’s Late-Night Charity Auction. These funds are much appreciated by the Williamson Library Collection at ENMU, the local Roadrunner Food Bank, the Albuquerque Public Library Foundation and New Mexico PBS.
