We Are The Flesh at the Guild Cinema
Friday & Saturday, February 3 & 4 – 10:30 pm only

Directed by Emiliano Rocha Minter – 2016 – 80m.  An Alibi Midnight Movie Madness special presentation!  All seats $8.00.

A beautifully shot psychological thriller, gorgeously capturing the depths of depravity and emotion capable by humans!  A young brother and sister, roaming an apocalyptic city, take refuge in the dilapidated lair of a strange hermit. He puts them to work building a bizarre cavernous structure, where he acts out his insane and depraved fantasies. Trapped in this maddening womb-like world under his malign influence, they find themselves sinking into the realms of dark and forbidden behaviour.

“An extreme Mexican fiesta of incest, cannibalism, and explicit sex.” – Variety

“It didn’t take long for my opinion to settle on, ‘that movie was fucking awesome…’

Whatever your cinematic sensibility, you ain’t seen nothin’ like this before.” – Birth.Movies.Death

“Simply put, Emiliano Rocha Minter’s We Are the Flesh is the real deal. As a story, it’s compelling, hypnotic, and shocking in a visceral, uncomfortable way, effortlessly evoking emotion and wonder through its endless depravity. But as cinema, it’s bold, surreal, and visually spell-binding, almost like a pornographic portrait of hell painted through an existential lens. In relative terms, We Are the Flesh provokes the same reaction one might find in their virgin voyage through the art of Alejandro Jodorowsky, in which not a single punch is pulled or compromised. There’s something pure about the artistry behind We Are the Flesh, even if you might not be ready to experience another human being’s vision at its most unfiltered. FOUR STARS” – Fangoria

“I loved this film. It takes over your waking thoughts, like a recurring dream we try to forget, because we are fearful of finding out it may be a memory.” – Alfonso Cuarón
