William Shatner’s Chaos on the Bridge Documentary in Santa Fe – Introduced by Melinda Snodgrass!

On Sunday, July 24, the Jean Cocteau Cinema is screening William Shatner’s documentary, Chaos on the Bridge: The Untold Story Behind Trek’s Next Generation.  Melinda Snodgrass, who served as story editor for two years on Star Trek: The Next Generation, will introduce the film, and then answer questions from the audience afterward.  David Gerrold, who also contributed to Next Gen, is expected to join the conversation via Skype.

The documentary is the story of the struggle to create the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987). Shatner speaks to virtually every major player, both in front of and behind the camera, who was involved with the production of The Next Generation. Traveling in both Canada and the United States, Shatner takes viewers to the back lot of Paramount Studios, a mission control room at NASA, and the largest Star Trek convention in the world to reveal the never-before-told story of Chaos on the Bridge.

Critic Heath Holland notes, “Now the truth can be told! That’s the attitude that pervades William Shatner’s documentary exploring the franchise that made him a household name. The man who once told Star Trek fans to ‘get a life’ has now spent considerable time and effort in his later years exploring the concepts and fandom that has made the franchise endure for almost fifty years. This time, Shatner writes, hosts, and directs this engaging peek inside the tumultuous creation of Star Trek: The Next Generation and the behind-the-scenes drama that has heretofore remained largely a secret.”

The event takes place 6:3 pm Sunday, July 24.  Tickets are $10.00 each for Adults, $8.00 for Students and Seniors.

The Jean Cocteau Cinema is located at 418 Montezuma Avenue, north end of the Rail Yard District, in Santa Fe. For more info: 505-466-5528 or JeanCocteauCinema.com.
