Editor Ellen Datlow Talks and Sign Books at the Jean Cocteau Cinema in Santa Fe – along with Stephen Graham Jones and Matthew Kressel.

Famed editor Ellen Datlow will be in Santa Fe on January 21 to talk about and sign her latest anthology, Mad Hatters and March Hares.  She is joined by authors Stephen Graham Jones and Matthew Kressel.  Plus there is a special Mad Hat Contest!

About the Anthology:  From master anthologist Ellen Datlow comes an all-original collection of weird tales inspired by the strangeness of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There. Between the hallucinogenic, weird, imaginative wordplay and the brilliant mathematical puzzles and social satire, Alice has been read, enjoyed, and savored by every generation since its publication. Datlow asked 18 of the most brilliant and acclaimed writers working today to dream up stories inspired by all the strange events and surreal characters found in Wonderland.

Featuring stories and poems from Seanan McGuire, Jane Yolen, Catherynne M. Valente, Delia Sherman, Genevieve Valentine, Priya Sharma, Stephen Graham Jones, Richard Bowes, Jeffrey Ford, Angela Slatter, Andy Duncan, C.S.E. Cooney, Matthew Kressel, Kris Dikeman, Jane Yolen, Kaaron Warren, Ysbeau Wilce, and Katherine Vaz.

In celebration of the release of Mad Hatters and March Hares, Jean Cocteau will host a special Mad Hatter Hat Contest. Channel your inner Mad Hatter and create your own Mad Hatter Hat and have the master of horror Ellen Datlow judge your creation. Mad Hatter Hats will be judged on originality, creativity, characterization, artistic quality and inventiveness.  All entries will be judged by Ellen Datlow at 7:00 pm.  Hats must be entered by 6:00 pm.  Prizes are $125 gift certificate to the Jean Cocteau Cinema for 1st Place, $50 gift certificate for 2nd Place, and $25 gift certificate for 3rd place.

The event starts at 7:00 pm Sunday, January 21.  Admission cost is $30.00, which includes a hardcover of the anthology; $21.00 with a paperback; or $10.00 with no book purchase.

The Jean Cocteau Cinema is located at 418 Montezuma Avenue, north end of the Rail Yard District, in Santa Fe. For more info: 505-466-5528 or JeanCocteauCinema.com.
